Hazel, Hattie, Harriet, and Henrietta are the beloved chickens of Dinah Zike's STEAM Garden.
Hazel and Hattie are both Silver Laced Wyandottes Chickens, and Harriet and Henrietta are Dominque Chickens. Both breeds of these chickens are known for laying brown eggs.They are also known for having a hardy disposition, calm temperaments (check out that photo of them next to our STEAM Garden cat Pepper!), and being for great foragers.
You may wonder who is who?
They look similar, but the Dominique chickens have a "cuckoo" barred pattern of feather coloring, and the Silver Laced Wyandotte chickens have a black lacing on silver-white feathers patterning. Both chicken breeds have a rose comb. Look for the mostly white feathered heads on Hazel and Hattie, and the mixed/peppered feathering colored heads on Harriet and Henrietta!
