Dinah, What do snacks have to do with the Eclipse?

Updated: Oct 14, 2023

Safely View the Annular Eclipse! .... Through a cheese cracker's shadow?

We know not to look directly at the Sun during an eclipse, but what if you don't have solar viewing glasses?

You can use just about anything with a small hole to view the action's shadow--even a cheese cracker's tiny hole.

If the hole in the center is blocked, use a pin or something small to open it completely. Hold the cracker so sunlight can pass through and cast a shadow onto a flat surface such as concrete or a piece of cardboard.

You'll be able to see the moon's shadow as it passes in front of the Sun and then have a snack when it's over. What could be better than that?

Will you be watching the eclipse on October 14, 2023?
